TASL 2023
My Hometown Conference
I had the privilege of attending the Tennessee Association of School Librarians (TASL) conference from November 5th to 7th, 2023. It was an amazing experience connecting with local librarians and gaining valuable insights from the professional development sessions.
The conference started off with an incredible first night at #TASLCon23. The evening was filled with excitement as the TASL awards were presented to deserving individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of school librarianship. It was inspiring to see the recognition of their hard work and dedication.
The keynote address was given by Amanda Jones, a renowned advocate for intellectual freedom and a prominent figure in the library community. Her speech was thought-provoking and inspiring, reminding us of the importance of preserving intellectual freedom in our libraries.
Throughout the conference, I had the opportunity to attend various professional development sessions led by experts in the field. From sessions on innovative library programs to strategies for promoting literacy, each session provided valuable insights and practical ideas that I can implement in my own library.
One of the highlights of the conference was the opportunity to connect with local librarians. It was wonderful to meet and exchange ideas with colleagues from different schools and districts. The sense of community and support among librarians was truly inspiring and reinforced the importance of collaboration in our profession.
Attending the TASL conference was an enriching experience that has further ignited my passion for school librarianship. I am grateful for the knowledge and connections I gained during this event, and I look forward to implementing these insights in my library to better serve my students.
Thank you, TASL, for organizing this incredible conference and providing a platform for librarians to come together, learn, and grow. I am already looking forward to next year's conference and the opportunities it will bring. Until then, I will continue to embrace the spirit of #TASLCon23 and strive to make a difference in the lives of my students through the power of libraries.
